Who we are

MedFind Canada (“we”, “us”) operates this application to help people find information about medication shortages and pharmacy availability across Canada. Contact: medfinder.ca@gmail.com

What we collect

  • Account information: email address, and if you sign up with Google, your name and profile info from Google
  • Stock reports you submit: medication, pharmacy, status, and any optional note you write
  • Location data: only when you grant permission, used to show nearby pharmacies — we do not store your precise location permanently unless tied to an alert you create
  • Alert preferences: medications and locations you choose to be notified about

Why we collect it

  • To let you sign in and manage your account
  • To display and attribute community-submitted stock reports
  • To show pharmacies near a location you provide
  • To send alerts you’ve opted into (if/when this feature is active)

Who can see your data

  • Other users can see your stock reports and submission timestamp, but not your email or identity, unless you choose to display a name
  • We do not sell your data to third parties
  • Data is stored with Supabase (our backend provider) and Google (for maps/location features), both of which have their own privacy practices

Your rights (Quebec Law 25 & PIPEDA)

Under Quebec’s Law 25 and federal privacy law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Withdraw consent for data collection at any time (by deleting your account)
  • File a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec if you believe your rights have been violated

To exercise these rights, contact: medfinder.ca@gmail.com

Data retention

We retain your account data until you delete your account. Stock reports remain visible (anonymized) after account deletion to preserve the historical record, unless you request full removal.

Data breaches

In the event of a data breach involving your personal information, we will notify affected users and the Commission d’accès à l’information as required under Law 25.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notice.
